MALONE – Two longtime Alice Hyde employees and North Country residents have been promoted to leadership roles at University of Vermont Health Network – Alice Hyde Medical Center.
Matthew L. Jones, who grew up in Moira and now lives in Malone, has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Angela M. DeBeer, a lifelong resident of the Moira area, has been named Associate Vice President of Finance and Controller.
“Alice Hyde, Malone and the surrounding communities are home to some of the most dedicated and talented professionals in the University of Vermont Health Network, said Stephens M. Mundy, President and CEO of Alice Hyde.
“I’m proud to work with those professionals – to tap into their skills and knowledge, as well as their dedication to this facility and the communities it serves – as we continuously work to improve how we deliver healthcare to our family, friends and neighbors.”
After graduating from Brushton-Moira Central, Jones obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Hamilton College. He then began his career at Vermont Academy in Saxtons River, VT, where he served as a hockey coach, teacher and then as the Assistant Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. He returned to northern New York and Alice Hyde in 2010, where he has progressively served in a number of leadership role, most recently including Vice President of Support Services and Associate Vice President of Operations.
“I’ve been privileged to have had a couple outstanding mentors and to be able to advance and grow in my career at a facility I’ve been familiar with all my life,” Jones said. “I look forward to working with the outstanding leadership team we have in place and the exceptional employees we have across the organization to continuously improve how we deliver health care to our North Country neighbors.”
An avid hockey player, Jones serves as a coach and board member for the Malone Minor Hockey Association and serves as Assistant Coach to the Franklin Academy varsity hockey teams. He and his wife, Kim, have two daughters, Maggy and Ava.
DeBeer is no stranger to Alice Hyde, having worked at the hospital as Accounting Manager from 2002 to 2007. After getting her start at a local accounting firm, DeBeer has advanced her career while working for some of the largest employers in the region, including the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino, Brushton-Moira Central School District and, most recently, as Chief Financial Officer/Director of Finance at Citizen Advocates.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from SUNY Plattsburgh and her Associate of Applied Science in Banking from SUNY Canton.
“For me, returning to Alice Hyde is like returning home,” DeBeer said. “I’ve lived in the North Country all my life, and I spent five years here earlier in my career. Alice Hyde provides exceptional health care and service to the North Country, and it has provided me opportunities to progress my career, skills and responsibilities. I look forward to working with the finance and leadership teams to continuously look for ways to improve and advance the organization.”
DeBeer has served on the Brushton-Moira Central School District Board of Education since 2012, and also serves on the board for Brushton-Moira Scholars for Dollars. She and her husband, Tom, have two daughters, Megan and Ashley.
