Preventive Care

At Alice Hyde Dental Center we stress preventive care as the best means of maintaining good oral health. Regular cleaning and exams not only allow us to catch decay in its earliest stages, but also to prevent and treat periodontol disease. We recommend that our patients come in twice a year for routine cleaning appointments; however, sometimes more frequent visits are necessary.

We also recommend fluoride treatments and sealants, which are highly effective forms of preventive care, especially for children.

A member of our staff will be happy to address any questions or concerns you may have and to explain these standards and procedures to you. Educational literature is also available.

Treating Patients of All Ages

Pediatric Patients

Most children are more cooperative when his or her parent is not present. We recommend that parents bring their child to the exam room  and leave him or her in our care.

If you request to stay in the room with your child, please observe the following guidelines:

• Stand back and allow us to establish a one-on-one relations with your child.
• It is best to let your child answer all questions directed at him or her.

Your Initial Visit

When you come to the Alice Hyde Dental Center for your first visit, we ask that you arrive 15 minutes early so that you can fill out a brief health history.

Please Keep the Following in Mind

• Patients are scheduled in 30-60 minute appointments.
• Be aware of any health risks you might have.

Patients with Health Concerns

If you have or have had one or more of the following conditions you may need to be given an antibiotic prior to your dental appointment; unless you have a letter from your physician stating otherwise.

• Mitral Valve Prolapse
• Artificial Heart Valves
• Rheumatic Fever
• Knee/Hip/Etc. Replacements

Cancellations and Missed Appointments

We understand that sometimes it is nevessary to cancel you appointment. For the consideration of our other patients, we would appreciate a 24-hour notice.
