Franklin Academy's Girls Soccer Teams Raise Money for Alice Hyde's Family Maternity Services
Glow Race Benefits Alice Hyde Medical Center for Third Consecutive Year
Malone, NY (9/24/2018) - Franklin Academy's Girls Varsity and Junior Varity (JV) soccer teams are sponsoring the Huskies Homecoming Glow Run on Friday, October 19th at the Malone Civic Center beginning at 8 p.m. Funds raised from the 5K and Community Fun Run will benefit Family Maternity Services at the University of Vermont Health Network - Alice Hyde Medical Center.
The Glow Run is a fundraising event for people of all ages. Runners and walkers are invited for a fun night filled with glow sticks, black lights and an after party with Word of Mouth DJ Services until 10 p.m. The cost to participate is $20 per person or $15 per person for a team of ten or more. After October 15th, the cost to participate will be $25 per person or $20 per person for a team of ten or more. The first 100 people registered will receive a Glow Run T-shirt. Prizes will be given for the top finishers in each age category as well as prizes to the largest participating teams.
This is the third consecutive year the teams’ Glow Run will raise funds for Alice Hyde Medical Center. In 2016, the JV team donated $5,000 to support the purchase of the new Tomosynthesis Unit, an advanced form of breast imaging that uses a low-dose x-ray system and computer reconstructions to create three-dimensional images of the breast. The group came by and toured the facility once the unit was in place. Last year, Alice Hyde’s Reddy Cancer Center benefitted from a $5,000 gift, also from the JV team.
Chantelle Marshall, Philanthropy Director at Alice Hyde stated, “With some of the original JV players moving up to the Varsity squad, both teams are working together on this year’s event. Their dedication to the community and continued support of Alice Hyde Medical Center makes a difference for our patients.”
Family Maternity Services at Alice Hyde welcomes an average of 200 newborns every year – including some future Huskies.
