Alice Hyde Medical Center Upgrades Imaging Equipment

New equipment offers clearer, more precise images, safety measures

MALONE, NY –New, advanced imaging technology at University of Vermont Health Network - Alice Hyde Medical Center (AHMC) offers clearer images and enhanced patient safety measures. A state-of-the-art x-ray and fluoroscopy machine was installed in April as part of a system-wide imaging technology upgrade initiative.

The upgrade ensures more accurate diagnoses and better treatment plans, ultimately improving patient outcomes and experience,” according to Associate Vice President of Support and Professional Services Kristin Ellis Wood. “This initiative ensures that both providers and patients benefit from high-quality imaging, close to home and regardless of where in the system the images are taken.”

“This new equipment is fully digital and replaces a 20-year-old machine, offering our providers and patients with clearer and more precise imaging,” explained Shannon Legacy, interim Radiology manager. Fluoroscopy is a real time video of movements in the body using x-rays. She added that it minimizes radiation exposure making it safer for patients and staff.

As part of the installation project, the room housing the equipment has been completely remodeled with input from the dedicated staff. The updated space not only enhances the workflow but also accommodates the machine's smaller footprint, making it more efficient and user-friendly.

Ellis Wood said the project benefited from the expertise of the IT, Radiology and Facilities teams. “It demonstrates their dedication to offering our community great, high-quality service,” she said.

Alice Hyde Medical Center remains committed to leveraging the latest technology to improve patient outcomes and ensure the highest standards of care close to home.
