Dr. Whitman is providing weekly medical oncology consultations and clinical care at the Reddy Cancer Treatment Center. Dr. Whitman, medical staff member at CVPH Medical Center, will collaborate with AHMC’s Dr. Myrna Sanchez, Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Care, specializing in Hematology and Medical Oncology for the past twenty years.
A medical oncologist is a doctor who diagnoses and treats cancer. They specialize in treatments, such as chemotherapy, analgesics and hormones (medicines to reduce pain) for the management of cancer.
The Reddy Cancer Treatment Center is a full service chemotherapy and radiation oncology facility, utilizing state-of-the-art medical technology in the fight against cancer. In 2011, AHMC installed a new linear accelerator at the Reddy Cancer Treatment Center, expanding its scope of treatment to include Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). This equipment provides radiation doses to a tumor or specific areas, minimizing the radiation delivered to the surrounding tissues.
The Cancer Center is proud to offer its patients wholistic healing services, treating the whole person, under the supervision of Kalpana Reddy, Founder and Director of Wholistic Care, located on the AHMC campus. These services include grief and emotional support; life coaching to live a well and balanced life; self coping skills, such as breathing practices, meditation, yoga, and guided imagery; and Reiki Healing Touch before, during, and after chemotherapy or radiation treatments.
